Students from Jackson-Feild Behavioral Health Services recently enjoyed a memorable and enriching field trip to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA), where they explored world-class art and experienced the power of creativity firsthand.
The visit offered students a unique opportunity to step outside the classroom and engage with art from cultures and time periods across the globe. As they walked through the museum’s galleries, students discovered paintings, sculptures, and artifacts that sparked curiosity and conversation. For many, it was their first time visiting a major art museum.
Throughout the day, students were encouraged to observe the details within each piece, share their interpretations, and reflect on how art can express emotions, stories, and perspectives. Staff members guided discussions that helped students connect the artwork to their own experiences and creativity.
Field trips like this are an important part of the educational experience at Jackson-Feild. They provide students with opportunities to explore new environments, build social skills, and gain exposure to cultural institutions that inspire learning and imagination.
Jackson-Feild Behavioral Health Services continues to prioritize opportunities that support the growth, education, and well-being of the children in its care.
