For over a decade, Helen Markiewicz, alongside 15 dedicated Colligate High School students, has been the driving force behind JFBHS’s Fairy Godmother Program, ensuring every child finds their perfect prom look. Through generous donations of prom dresses, shoes, and jewelry, as well as makeup products from Mary Kay associate Tracey Allen, Markiewicz and her team have made prom dreams a reality for countless children.
On April 27th, 2024, Markiewicz and her students hosted a dazzling dress boutique, featuring jewelry, makeup, hair accessories, and duffel bags for the children to carry their items. The event was a testament to JFBHS’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, striving to make every child feel confident and beautiful on their prom night.
With the retirement of Helen Markiewicz after 14 years of dedicated service, Christina Dobson steps into the role of Director of the Fairy Godmother Program, continuing the legacy of generosity and compassion. The impact of the program extends far beyond fashion, fostering meaningful connections between students and the community.
As prom night approaches on May 31st, hosted at JFBHS, the spirit of compassion and solidarity embodied by Colligate High School continues to prove that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
